FTP is the most used method of transferring and sharing files over the Internet. The reasons for this are quite obvious. You can upload and download files from a FTP website faster than using the HTTP service. Besides that, there is no limitation for the maximum size of a file which can be uploaded through FTP, like it's the case with email attachments. But in order to benefit from these features, you will need to install a FTP client first.

The client which comes with Windows is difficult to use and inefficient, as it doesn't have a graphical interface and it's based on command lines. Fortunately, there are certain FTP clients on the market which present a graphical approach when it comes to connecting to a FTP server. Thus, anybody will be able to use FTP without much effort. One such application is FTP Disk.

After the user launches this Windows program, he will first need to enter the details of the FTP server he wants to access, like the server address, username, address and port. This information will remain stored in the application and every time the user will need to access the FTP server, he will just need to double-click on the server's name.

After connecting to the FTP server, one will be able to download or upload files using drag and drop, as FTP Disk includes a Windows Explorer-like interface. Unfortunately, there is not too much information displayed about the files and folders being copied. By accessing the graphical toolbar of FTP Disk, the user will be able to display a full log of the program's operations at any moment, thus being able to spot any possible error.

By accessing the options area of the application, the font can be customized and the user can also select the file formats which will be opened using FTP Disk's internal text reader.

Pros

It allows you to easily connect to any FTP server, just by entering the server address, username and password. Besides that, the username and password are automatically stored by the application. Furthermore, file operations can be performed using drag and drop, in a Windows Explorer-like interface.

Cons

There is no "quick connect" option. FTP Disk allows you to quickly connect to any FTP server and perform file operations using drag and drop.
